Database consultancy services in SQL Server, Oracle and the Cloud
Our Biggest Clients and Projects
We work with or have worked with a number of clients, and across a wide range of business types including medical/healthcare, legal, financial, travel and manufacturing.
As a multi-discipline company this work carries a varied capacity ranging from server upgrades and migrations to data warehouse development and custom applications.
Server Upgrade and DBA Services
These can include end of life migration of databases from one version of SQL Server to another, from on premise to the cloud, database administration services like setting up disaster recovery and putting best practice.
Some migrations may not have a direct upgrade path, so we can help you plan what steps will need to be taken, and if necessary perform and test any changes before migration.
There are also options available for remote Database Administration services for companies who maybe don't want the cost or have the need for a full time DBA in house, but recognise the need for good data governance.
Helping to Protect the NHS
We have worked with the Isle of Wight NHS on numerous projects including SQL Server setup and maintenance, data warehouse development and reporting.
The latest project has been setting up failover clustered SQL Servers with on and offsite hot standby and reporting servers.
Application Migration
These generally take the form of migrating data stored in a legacy applications or applications and transforming it into data to be imported into your new one.
This can include working across a number of different database management systems, we have worked on migrations containing 10 or more specific data sets.
Data cleansing can be applied where necessary, and we have a number of ready to use functions for cleansing addresses, telephone numbers and de-duplication.
A Legal Challenge
A large scale database migration and reporting project with multiple sources and platforms including SQL Server and Oracle.
An customised web application was created to compliment reporting and manage personnel targets for this large law firm with offices in Portsmouth, Southampton, Oxford, Reading, Cardiff and London and over 1000 members of staff.
Data Warehousing and Integration
Many businesses have a variety of sources for their data, sitting across many platforms, but don't have the experience of bringing it all together in one place.
We can leverage this data and build a centralised warehouse, based either on premise or in the cloud using our preferred product SQL Server.
Additional features like SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) can also be utilised where needed, but generally these can be overkill for what our clients actually need.
Ongoing support is also available either in house or fully remote where possible.
Your Doctor Film & Media
A long term project encompassing Database Design and Web/Application Development for this Covid19 testing firm with offices and laboratories in London, Windsor and Champneys.
The custom web application manages day to day business activities, as well as integrating multiple data sources and user management and two-factor authentication.
This custom web application has been built to the highest standards and regularly handles over 40,000,000 requests a month.
Reporting Services
We primarily use the Microsoft stack, so reports are written in Power BI or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and use either cloud based or on premise SQL Server databases.
A number of successful reporting platform migrations have been undertaken, including QlikView and Crystal Reports to SSRS.
Because the majority of these clients have SQL Server, they can use SSRS as part of it, this approach has led to savings of thousands of pounds per year.
Once built we can offer ongoing maintenance and support to keep your reporting services up to date.
Cloud Based Application
Custom application for taking payments and surveys.
The stuff that Claytabase has put together is amazing. Efficient response every time a contact was made. Claytabase also provided strategic suggestions not only to meet our requirements but also capable of handling future growth.

Custom Development
Need something a bit more substantial?
Having worked on a number of data management solutions, we can put something custom in place using our web and database development knowledge.
Previous projects have involved;
- Employee management
- Team management
- Target management
- Payment systems
- Invoice management
- Custom emails
- SMS generation (link to web page)
- Integration of web API's into business use
All of these projects have achieved considerable return on investment, be it through reduced man hours or additional income streams.
Data can be hosted on site, in the cloud or by us, and if you want rapid deployment and development then we can use our content management system as the backbone, as it has user/role management out of the box.
Other Platforms
We have worked with a number of other database systems including SAP, OpenEdge (previously known as Progress), NoSQL, MySQL, Microsoft Access and various Cloud Based Data Services, We will happily get involved in integrating any of these sources into a data warehouses or setting up reporting off of these systems.
Using data wisely can help your business
The improvement and miniaturisation of computers in the 1980’s let to an explosion in the amount of data that was readily available to share between workers and devices around the world.
Every day we may each create 1000s of activity records in a variety of places, be it using a Social Media platform or Search Engine, visiting a website, taking money out of cash machine, getting on a bus, making a phone call, buying lunch the list goes on.
While data is easily captured, making sense of it is not always so easy. Companies that tend to be doing well will probably have already embraced “digital transformation” to become a data company, and use information to gain a competitive advantage.
Making sense of the available data that can be captured in house or bought online can be a real challenge, as can choosing whether to purchase data from online sources like post code or IP address data.
Choosing which platform to use, and whether to put your data in house or in the cloud can be another daunting proposition, we have experience of both and can talk you through the pros and cons of each.
If you are thinking about setting up or overhauling your data processes and want an informal chat to go through what your options are, or if we help then feel free to get in contact free of charge, or read on below.
In light of some of our experiences, we have written a selection of articles on SQL Server Maintenance, using SQL Server dates. using SQL Server Functions, SQL data cleansing and a selection of tools, which have been implemented independently in companies around the globe.
